Here Are the Events that Rebels' Ending Set Up
Several years after the show's end, it is now apparent that the end of Rebels sets up the main events, conflicts, and character arcs we will encounter in Ahsoka.
Ahsoka's very survival after her fateful battle with her former master was due to Ezra's success in infiltrating a Jedi temple that defies space and time.
In return, Ezra's disappearance sets up what will be Ahsoka and Sabine's quest to find him in Ahsoka's own series.
Rebels ends with Ezra realizing that killing or outsmarting Grand Admiral Thrawn was impossible at that point.
Because of that, Ezra decides to use his connection with the Purrgil to take Thrawn far into hyperspace even if it means that Ezra himself will also get lost.
But Ahsoka's trailer makes it clear that Thrawn is back as "heir to the Empire," so where is Ezra? That's one of the questions Ahsoka will hopefully answer.
What Happened to the Main Characters After Rebels?
After the end of Rebels' main events, Sabine remains close to Ahsoka; the new series' trailer suggests that Ahsoka trained Sabine as a Jedi.
Hera is revealed to have been in early pregnancy during the events of Season 4.
By the last episode's time skip, she has given birth to a son, Jacen.
Zeb finds out that his people, the Lasat, aren't entirely extinct, and he goes to find them. A reformed Agent Kallus is welcome to join him.
Kallus and Zeb came close when the former was still an agent of the Empire. Being stranded together for a little while made Kallus reconsider the course of his life.
Eventually, Kallus becomes a rebel informant before fully joining the Rebel Alliance.
He and Zeb remain close after the New Republic is established.
What Historical Star Wars Events Does Rebel Foreshadow?
Star Wars Rebels doesn't directly delve into the Death Star but savvy fans can see some foreshadowing.
In the last season, the Ghost crew hinders the Empire's plans for the Death Star without fully realizing what they did.
These events and allusions directly lead to the events of Rogue One.
The 2016 Star Wars movie even has a background character called Hera, while Chopper and the Ghost briefly appear in the background.
Moreover, Season 4 of Rebels alludes to the Mandalorian conflicts that The Mandalorian tv series will also explore.
