Who Is Yushiro in Demon Slayer?
Yushiro plays an important supporting role in the series. As Lady Tamayo’s travel companion and a trusted ally of Tanjiro Kamado, Yushiro underwent demon transformation at Tamayo’s hands due to a terminal illness.
He is a bold and fiery character and has a confrontational demeanor. In his initial interaction with Tanjiro, he starts by insulting Nezuko Kamado, referring to her as an eyesore.
Over time, Yushiro's outlook changes as he observes Nezuko's impressive combat skills against Yahaba and Susamaru. He eventually describes Nezuko as beautiful but in a platonic fashion.
Similar to all demons, Yushiro was once a human. However, Yushiro is different from other demons as he was transformed by Tamayo.
As Yushiro battled a life-threatening illness, Tamayo asked if he wished to combat his illness.
She even took time to explain the advantages and disadvantages of becoming a demon.
As a demon, Yushiro can assert his dominance over any demon simply by having them don his blindfold. This not only grants him command over their thoughts but also extends to their physical actions.
What Happened to Yushiro After Muzan’s Defeat in Demon Slayer?
Toward the end of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba, Tanjiro and the members of the Demon Slayer Corps battle against Muzan.
After a fierce fight, Tanjiro and the rest manage to kill Muzan. With Muzan’s death and defeat, every demon ceases to exist, leaving only Yushiro alive.
Interestingly, there is one more demon who manages to survive post-Muzan’s demise, and it is Chachamaru, a calico cat employed by Tamayo.
Yushiro survives after Muzan’s death because Tamayo created him, and he doesn’t have a single drop of Muzan’s blood in his body.
Since he and Tamayo are not under Muzan’s control, they are completely unaffected by the latter's fate in Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba.
Later, Yushiro committed himself to becoming an artist and emerged as a globally renowned painter in modern times, adopting the identity of Yushiro Yamamoto.
He eventually gained widespread recognition for his remarkably detailed paintings of Tamayo.
