We finally know who the killer is in True Detective: Night Country. With the show's end, we also can't help but have some questions like where is Navarro? Or what happened to Qavvik in True Detective season 4? Below, we attempt to answer the latter with what we know.

What Happened to Qavvik at the End of True Detective?
When we first met Eddie Qavvik (played by Joel Montgrand) in True Detective: Night Country, we couldn't help but suspect him to be the killer of the Tsalal researchers.
Some suspected him because he had sleigh dogs who appeared mean. With this theory, he could have easily ordered them to chase the scientists to the ice.
There were also some theories that Qavvik could have killed the scientists in his ice-fishing cabin in the middle of nowhere.
It would have been a shame if he was the killer since he quickly became a fan-favorite character among the viewers.
Fortunately, these all turned out to be fan theories in the finale episode. But what happened to Qavvik at the end of True Detective: Night Country?
The last time we see Qavvik is when he finds a SpongeBob toothbrush outside his house. After finding the said toothbrush, Qavvik starts to look for Navarro in the area, and that's all we see of Qavvik.
Does Qavvik End Up with Navarro?
While we don't know for sure whether Qavvik and Trooper Evangeline Navarro (played by Kali Reis) end up together, we can assume that they don't.
This is because everyone is looking for Navarro in the finale. Chief Liz Danvers (played by Jodie Foster) is even questioned about this.
The last time the audience sees Navarro is when she walks out into the sunrise while crossing the ice fields.
This bit of the show leaves the audience wondering what happened to Navarro and whether she's still alive.
As for Qavvik, who was also Navarro's fling, finding the SpongeBob toothbrush outside his home was a sigh of relief.
It was his confirmation that Navarro was okay and that she could return to him someday.

Although Navarro's end remains ambiguous to us, we can't help but wonder what happened to Qavvik. Does he find peace or, at least, his own happy ending?
Finding that toothbrush may have eased his worries, but it still doesn't answer some questions viewers have over Navarro's disappearance.
