Westworld Writer Returns to Catwoman for the Character's 80th Anniversary

Ed Brubaker is a common name to comic book fans, having memorable runs in comics like Batman, Secret Avengers, Iron Fist, Daredevil, and the comic everyone knows him for Captain America. He also had a memorable run on Catwoman with late artist Darwyn Cooke, which introduced a number of supporting characters that tend to pop up in most of Selina's comics. These days, he's known more for his work on Westworld but Brubaker is coming back for a story in Catwoman: 80th Anniversary - Super Spectacular, launching this April.

Announced by DC Comics (via Newsarama), Brubaker will be contributing a 12-page story with artist Cameron Stewart called "The Art of Picking a Lock." Since this is a big anniversary for the character, there will also be a number of other comic book creators involved, including Batman: The Animated Series' Paul Dini, Ann Nocenti, Adam Hughes, Tom King, Mikel Janín, Mindy Newell, Will Pfeifer, and Emanuela Lupacchino, as well as pinups by Steve Rude, Tula Lotay, and Jim Balent.

Joelle Jones, who is currently writing the ongoing series for the character, will be illustrating the one-shot's cover. However, it looks like she won't be contributing a story, which is a bit of a shame since, as previously, she writes and, sometimes, illustrates the current Catwoman comic. Still, the talent involved is very good and it's hard to be disappointed with this announcement.
