We Could Get 4 Marvel Films in a Year Moving Forward

Back in the early days of the MCU, we were getting at least two movies a year, and now that the universe has grown, we're getting three MCU films a year at most. What's interesting is, Kevin Feige could be looking to add one more to that number moving forward.

Talking to The Hollywood Reporter, Disney executive Alan Horn was asked to talk about Marvel Studios' 23-hit movie streak, and Horn says, "It is long. But Kevin Feige is working away. He will be making three or four a year. And they are very different from one another, so we'll see."

As for now, we're expecting two MCU films in 2020 (Black Widow, Eternals), and four for 2021 (Shang-Chi, Doctor Strange 2, Spider-Man 3, and Thor: Love and Thunder). Not to mention there are also several Marvel miniseries in between coming out on Disney+.

While I do like the idea of having to wait less for films, I think Marvel has hit a sweet spot when it comes to three. Not to mention they're going to have to compete with the releases of other studios like the DCEU. I know it's Disney-owned, but Star Wars could still be a rival. If anything, it was the release of Avengers: Infinity War that hurt the box office numbers of Solo: A Star Wars Story. Marvel came out on top for that one, but I'm sure Disney would have wanted both films to succeed.

For now, it looks like Feige is going to be very busy moving forward. Let's just hope he can handle being CCO for all Marvel properties without dipping quality with any branch.

The next MCU film set to come out is Black Widow, and it's slated for a release on May 1, 2020.
