To a lot of fans of the DC Extended Universe, Jeffrey Dean Morgan is the only actor qualified to take on the role of Thomas Wayne, and given the fact that he was featured in a cameo sequence on Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, people have been clamoring for him to play an alternate version of the character set in the Flashpoint universe. To those unaware, in the said timeline, the roles were reversed as Thomas actually becomes Batman to avenge the death of his son Bruce Wayne.

Now, with the upcoming standalone The Flash film set to draw massive inspiration from the now-iconic DC Comics storyline, fans believe that it's the perfect opportunity to give Morgan the Flashpoint Batman role, something that he's been wanting to sink his teeth into for years now. However, it's still unclear at this point whether or not The Flash will also feature Flashpoint Batman considering Michael Keaton's version of the caped crusader is also involved along with Ben Affleck.

Apparently, despite the uncertainty, the star of The Walking Dead is still interested in potentially playing the role in the DCEU but even he admits that time is already catching up with him and it may already be too late by the time WB decides to cast him. Speaking with CinePOP, the Watchmen actor explained: "At the top of my list has always been Batman, that's always been my favorite superhero. And talking about Flashpoint has been very fun, I get asked about it a lot. I love the story of Flashpoint Batman. Who knows? Who knows with DC? Who knows how these franchises work? I suppose I probably have like another two, three-year window, and then I'm gonna be too old."

Morgan also expressed his interest in taking on the Superman villain turned fan-favorite anti-hero Lobo, a role that I think would also suit him and while plans for an actual solo Lobo film aren't on the table just yet, Morgan is still hopeful that he'll get to play another character in a superhero franchise, even teasing a potential project in the future. In the end, he said: "We'll see. I have something maybe cooking and I'll let you know soon if that turns out to be but I love the world of comic books and hope that I get to stay playing in this world for a long time."

Of course, it isn't surprising how WB has yet to give Morgan a call and the studio not being in touch with what fans want has been a recurring theme for years now. Sure, The Flash is actually looking pretty solid with the involvement of Keaton and Affleck but I don't think it would hurt if they took a little page out of the original comic's story arc and included Flashpoint Batman. Still, if his DCEU plans don't come to fruition, there's another option for Morgan and that is to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

The Flash is expected to hit cinemas in 2022.
