SDCC 2018 came with a lot of great reveals for the DCEU, we got two new trailers for Aquaman and Shazam!. Mr. Sunday Movies has already done a breakdown of the Aquaman preview, and now he's released an in-depth look at the Shazam! teaser.
As it turns out, there's actually a lot more Easter Eggs in Freddy's room when it comes to his following of superheroes like Batman and Superman. He has a collection of more newspapers besides the Daily Planet, and he also has an action figure of Superman complete with the red underwear. Some guess that they turned Superman into a comic within the DCEU, and that version comes with the briefs.
A lot of things were lifted straight from the New 52 comics, but they have taken a few liberties when it came to the villain Doctor Sivana. In the comics, Sivana gets the ability to only ‘see' magic when he gets his powers, but in the movie, it looks like he's also going to be imbued with superhuman strength.
After some dark heroes for the DCEU, Shazam! promises to be one romp that's meant to be light from the very beginning. Let's hope that David F. Sandberg doesn't disappoint.
Shazam! comes to theaters April 9, 2019.
