Michael Bay has officially bowed out of the Transformers franchise, leaving a new director to play with the property this time around. A new trailer had just recently dropped for Travis Knight's Bumblebee spinoff, and Mr. Sunday Movies gives us a thorough breakdown of what we missed in the trailer.
A lot of fans have come to notice the less-organic design of Bumblebee, and Mr. Sunday has pointed out that he could be taking a form other than a Volkswagen Bug for this film—most likely in the beginning when he first arrives on Earth.
You'll even notice that his battle mask even has some very bee-like characteristics.
With the earlier Transformers movies usually having a ton of characters mashing themselves against each other, Bumblebee is looking for a more minimal approach in the style of The Iron Giant. Besides Bumblebee being the sole Autobot as the focus, it looks like we're going to have only one Decepticon against him—a more animation-faithful Starscream.
There were also hints of other bots appearing in the films, as well as an appearance from Optimus Prime, but it looks like they're going to be more of cameos as compared to being part of the overall plot.
A lot of positive reaction is coming from this trailer, and hopefully Knight knows what he's doing with this spinoff.
