Watch: The Amazing Practical Effects for Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom


Though the first Jurassic World made a lot of money, the film received some flak from the lack of practical effects used for the dinos. The good thing is, with the sequel, it looks like there will be a lot more puppets and animatronics, and it gives a better sense of realism for the viewers.

If you didn't know, Neal Scanlan, he has also worked in developing creatures for the Star Wars movies, so you know that we're getting some topnotch creature effects for Fallen Kingdom. Besides the sleeping T-Rex animatronic, they also built a cool raptor puppet that's supposedly strapped to a table.

I'm not one to complain about ‘overuse of CGI' since I understand that it's the cheaper way to handle effects, but you also have to appreciate how the film tries to capture the spirit of the original Jurassic Park by building actual animatronics of dinosaurs.

Three years after the destruction of the Jurassic World theme park, Owen Grady and Claire Dearing return to the island of Isla Nublar to save the remaining dinosaurs from a volcano that's about to erupt. They soon encounter terrifying new breeds of gigantic dinos while uncovering a conspiracy that threatens the entire planet.

Jurassic Park: Fallen Kingdom hits theaters June 22.
