Was James Gunn's Meeting With Mark Hamill About Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3?

Celebrities meeting each other almost always leads to speculation from fan communities and this is no exception. A few months ago, James Gunn and Mark Hamill had a Twitter exchange about possibly meeting up since they live so close to each other. Now, the two have finally done it and fans are wondering what it will lead to.

Most are hoping it was related to Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, which would be pretty sweet.

On Instagram, the Marvel director stated that he finally had coffee with the Star Wars actor in his house, whilst also confirming that they've eaten out before. That jokey comment might lead to even more speculation honestly since it implies that the two have been meeting up about a film for some time.

How Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 even happens is going to be interesting, given the events that happened in Avengers: Infinity War. Most of the core group will probably return but it's not clear if Gamora will since she was killed by Thanos to get the Soul Stone. Most of the group was killed by Thanos' finger snap, so it's easier to imagine how they come back but Gamora might be a lost cause.

Still, if Guardians 3 does happen, it would be cool to see Hamill in some capacity. The actor seems to be done with Star Wars unless there are plans for Luke to be there for Rey in spirit form ala Obi-Wan in Return of the Jedi.

Avengers 4 is coming out on May 3, 2019. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 has no release date yet but will start shooting next year.
