Warner Bros Reportedly Considered Bane Standalone Film

There is little doubt that Joker was one of Warner Bros.' most successful films of all time although it somehow focused on a DC comic book villain. However, it looks like the studio almost chose to produce a movie that would star a completely different Batman nemesis. A new report has revealed that Bane was almost given his own standalone film in the past.

The report comes from Heroic Hollywood, which points out that there were plans to develop a movie focusing on Bane. The project would have been similar to Joker, which explored the origin story of the Clown Prince of Crime. Interestingly, details about the film were not revealed so it is unclear whether it was considered at the same time that Bane was featured in Christopher Nolan's Dark Knight trilogy.

This could have been a great idea for Warner Bros. considering that Bane is one of the Batman villains who has proven to be truly strong and exceptionally intelligent. In addition to that, the character's backstory is a huge mystery so it would be interesting to know more about him. On the other hand, there is a possibility that the studio felt that fans weren't ready for a standalone movie that would focus on a supervillain.

Bane has previously appeared in the 1997 flick Batman and Robin and was portrayed by Venom actor Tom Hardy in The Dark Knight Rises. In addition to that, the character showed up in the final season of Gotham where he was played by Shane West.
