Several theories about WandaVision have circulated since the series aired its first episode last January and a lot of fans were pretty convinced that some of their speculations would end up materializing. One of which is the true identity of Monica Rambeau's aerospace engineer friend which has been puzzling MCU fans for quite a while now.
A lot of them believe that the aforementioned engineer is none other than Reed Richards aka Mr. Fantastic. Prior to Monica's revelation about her friend, S.W.O.R.D. director Tyler Hayward first teased the existence of a group of astronauts that have been missing since the blip earlier in the show. Naturally, viewers assumed that they were hinting at the arrival of the Fantastic Four.
Now, following WandaVision's "divisive" finale, director Matt Shakman is finally breaking his silence regarding the persistent rumor surrounding Marvel's first family. In a recent appearance on Fatman Beyond, Shakman addressed the theory and revealed that Monica mentioning her aerospace engineer friend was never intended to set up anything and certainly not the Fantastic Four.
Shakman explains: "Some of those Easter eggs are absolutely intentional. And then some things, like just trying to clarify what was Monica's plan with regards to the Hex [were not]. We did reshoot a little thing there, changed some dialogue, added the aerospace engineer which was never an intention on our side to set up the Fantastic Four (laughs)."
This is why everyone shouldn't take rumors and most especially theories way too seriously because if anything, it's only setting us up for disappointment down the line. And quite frankly, for the most part, the reason WandaVision's finale was met with mixed reviews was due to fans relying a little too much on baseless theories which ended up making them disappointed with the ending.
WandaVision's grand finale is now streaming on Disney+.
