The Marvel Cinematic Universe's fourth phase may have ended in an incredibly quick fashion but there's no denying that it started off with a major bang with the release of WandaVision. The groundbreaking show which is centered on Wanda's loss and grief pretty much paved the way for Marvel Studios' to venture into streaming.
It is also often regarded by the MCU fandom as one of the best, if not the best show the studio has put out so far, which says a lot considering there have been eight shows in total for Phase 4.
Now, close to two years after its release, the Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany series is facing serious allegations of racism, all thanks to a particular scene featuring Wanda Maximoff and Monica Rambeau.
On Twitter, user @MonicasFlight stirred controversy when she posted the now-iconic scene of Wanda finding out the truth about Monica (named Geraldine in the sitcom reality she created) who was sent by SWORD to investigate the Westview anomaly.
According to the user, the said sequence which takes place in Wanda's 70s sitcom reality has racist undertones to it. While they didn't specify what made the scene racially offensive, we'd like to assume that it has something to do with the oppression of African-American people. What do you think? Meanwhile, Monica is set to return in the MCU via The Marvels where she's been given an upgraded role. While it's up for debate whether or not Marvel blew her potential away in WandaVision, I still think the show allowed her to shine, especially during pivotal moments.
