To hype up the next episode, a new bonus episode for Vinland Saga Season 2 was released, and it is called Episode 18.5, titled Same old story.
This bonus episode isn’t just a typical trailer though. While it’s just a bit under two minutes long, it features a big moment featuring Ketil as he leads the fight against the invading forces of King Canute.

Ketil Becomes One of Vinland Saga’s Most Deplorable Characters
Ketil is one of the most important characters of Vinland Saga's second season as he became the owner of Thorfinn when he became a slave, as shown earlier in the first couple of episodes.
Unlike other slave owners, Ketil is shown to be a bit fairer towards his slaves as he offered them paths to buying out their freedom.
For example, Thorfinn and Einar could buy their freedom by clearing a forest and using it to farm wheat.
Of course, that’s not to say that Ketil is a good man. After all, he is still a slave owner. Not to mention that he finds comfort in the slave Arnheid against her will.
As the season progressed, Ketil’s bad sides are shown, and this all came to a head in the latest episode.
With King Canute setting his sights on the farm, Ketil comes back to his home, broken.
Then, he finds out that Arnheid tried to escape. What follows is possibly the hardest scene to watch in the entire Vinland Saga anime as Ketil horrifyingly beats the pregnant Arnheid.

Vinland Saga Season 2 Releases Episode 18.5
In the aftermath of the episode, Ketil decides to fight against Canute’s invading forces, despite his supposed battlefield ferocity and identity as Iron Fist being a lie.
Now, fans of the show can see him in action as he makes an impassioned speech to the farm’s warriors as they prepare to face King Canute and his invading army.
Along with the bonus episode, a new preview and synopsis for Episode 19 were also released.
This isn’t the first bonus episode for Season 2 though. Previously, another short bonus episode was released, though it was about Thorfinn’s violent past.
Vinland Saga Season 2 Episode 19 will be released next week on Crunchyroll and Netflix outside Japan.
