After two seasons with 24 episodes, Vinland Saga Season 2 has finally ended. Though fans still have more to look forward to as one of the show’s staff members confirmed that the Vinland Saga anime will continue after Season 2.
Shortly after the second season’s brilliant finale, the show’s chief animation director and character designer Takahiko Abiru shared on Twitter that Thorfinn’s journey will continue.
This is great news for fans of the anime, as it likely means the remaining chapters of the manga will get animated as well.

Vinland Saga Season 2 Ends in Heartfelt and Hilarious Fashion
After the harrowing events of Vinland Saga’s Farmland arc, Thorfinn has finally returned to his village in Iceland.
Though given that it has been over a decade since he left, many did not realize that it was him.
This led to a hilarious interaction with his sister Ylva who thought that Leif’s stories of Thorfinn being alive were not true.
Instead of a heartfelt reunion, Ylva instead kicked Thorfinn, who was trying to go for a hug.
Despite the funny scene at first, the episode quickly shifts gears as Thorfinn reunites with his mother who realizes that it is indeed Thorfinn that returned.
What follows is another tearful reunion with Ari. Soon, Ylva finds out that it is indeed Thorfinn that returned and is not a fake.
Though instead of going for a hug, Ylva socks Thorfinn, showing the strength that she inherited from her father.
The episode ends with Thorfinn affirming his goal of making a new colony in Vinland, and he is also shown with a shorter hairstyle.

Vinland Saga Anime Will Continue, Says Chief Animation Director
After the episode, the official Vinland Saga Twitter account shared new illustrations to celebrate the Season 2 finale.
One of these is a new visual of Thorfinn made by Takahiko Abiru. Soon, Abiru also shared his thanks to fans on Twitter, and he also promised that Thorfinn’s story will continue in the anime.
Of course, there’s still no official word on any Season 3 news. But given this statement, it’s highly likely that Vinland Saga Season 3 will be made, as there’s still plenty of material for a two-cour season.
Having a third season also wouldn’t be too surprising given how well-received the second season is among fans.
If the third season’s production is officially announced, it will likely take a while before we see it.
After all, there was a three-year gap between the first and second seasons.
