Venom Just Pushed Past $300 Million At The International Box Office

Sony's Venom might have been at the receiving end of a wave of negative reviews from critics, however, the Symbiote Standalone movie has certainly been enjoying a whole lot of box office success. Not only did the film make box office history by becoming the highest earning October opening in Hollywood history, but the Sony's Universe Of Marvel Characters movie has been enjoying a lot of box office love from overseas.

According to a report by Deadline,Venom just passed $300 M at the international box office, allowing the Symbiote Standalone movie to move toward a global $500M haul over the weekend.

Breaking down its current total haul of $477.8 M at the global box office, Venom has managed to gain $302.5 M internationally and $175.3 M domestic.

With so much success in its wide, jagged mouth, analysts expect Venom to reach even higher knowing that these impressive foreign box office numbers come before the film's Japanese and Chinese release the next two weeks. Both of these countries have strong markets for Hollywood blockbusters, so some analysts believe that China and Japan will help the film push past a $600 million global haul.

That's a whole lot for a movie with a Rotten Tomatoes critics score that's flopping at 30% rotten. Still, despite the terrifyingly low score that the film's received from actual critics, it looks like Venom is thriving among fans, many enjoying the campy feel of the comic book movie. Sure, it might not have the most solid narrative, but everyone sure is loving the banter between Tom Hardy's Eddie Brock and Venom.

Venom is currently screening in cinemas.
