Venom Director Gives Update on Zombieland Sequel

Besides the release of Venom, director Ruben Fleischer is also involved with the production of the sequel to Zombieland which was greenlit earlier this year. The film is set for a release next year, and Fleischer gives us an update on the status of the movie.

Talking to Fandango, Fleischer explains:

"I'm thrilled. We're already actually starting Zombieland. I've been scouting and storyboarding and getting it going, and to get to work with that cast again is just an absolute dream come true. It's been really exciting starting to think about that movie, and to get to work with Emma, Jesse, Woody and Abigail once again is truly a dream come true. Yeah, we're just at the very early stages, but we have an amazing script, and we're going to start shooting in Georgia in January."

We still don't have an idea on what the story for the sequel will be, but rumor has it that it will involve Little Rock running away with a boyfriend, and the whole team coming together to bring her back. I'm happy just to see all the original actors attached to the sequel.

Zombieland was quite the surprise of a movie, and it truly showed us the horror comedy chops of Fleischer. Not to mention the morbid humor of writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick—the same guys who wrote the Deadpool movies. Not to mention one of the best celebrity cameos of all time:

Zombieland 2 is set for a release on Oct. 11, 2019.
