Venom 2 Producer Expresses Concern Over Resuming Production During COVID-19 Pandemic

Major Hollywood studios may be eager to continue production, however, Venom: Let There Be Carnage producer Dan Wilson has a few concerns about resuming work on the film in the midst of the global COVID-19 pandemic.

The novel coronavirus has ravished the entire globe the past few months, killing millions and crippling the economy as governments impose lockdowns to prevent the spread of the disease. The entertainment industry has also suffered during the pandemic – not only have major film releases been pushed back, but the production of films have been held off as well.

Now that the US is slowly reopening, many studios are eager to begin work. Wilson, however, is wary about resuming production so soon.

Speaking in an interview with Vanity Fair, Wilson expressed his concern about production, saying how everyone seems to be nervous about the idea of going to work despite the pandemic.

"Nobody wants to go into an environment that's going to be risky and that goes for crew members too. It's not just talent," the producer told the entertainment news outlet, "It's everybody involved on set. There's a nervousness and that's natural and understandable. In the plans that we've discussed, they've certainly taken that into account and we'll see when we get there, I guess."

Of course, the cast and crew of any film production would be concerned for their health. The pandemic still hasn't fully come to an end, and if the members of production don't get tested, then there's a possibility that the disease may be spread throughout the team.

Hopefully, the studio decides to test the entire team before resuming production.

Venom: Let There Be Carnage is set to premiere on June 25, 2021.
