Venom 2: Andy Serkis Explains Why Cletus Kasady's New Hairstyle

There is little doubt that fans are loving the first trailer for Venom: Let There Be Carnage. After all, it featured our first glimpse at the terrifying Carnage, who is played by Woody Harrelson. But before he merges with the symbiote, we also get to see Cletus Kasady sporting a new hairstyle.

So what's with the new hairstyle? Director Andy Serkis has offered an interesting explanation as to why Cletus looks so different in Venom 2.

Serkis recently spoke to IGN where he discussed every aspect of the new trailer. Interestingly, the filmmaker pointed out that time has passed since we first saw Cletus in the 2018 movie and he wanted to make it obvious.

"We wanted to give a sense that he's been in there for some time and that he's gone through various changes," Serkis said. He then added that this was done to focus on Cletus himself.

"We wanted to strip away all of that so that we could really see what's going on with the darkness of the character," Serkis stated.

The new-look is certainly very different considering that Cletus had curly red hair in the mid-credits scene of Venom. However, he now looks truly terrifying and we can't wait to see him in action soon.

Venom: Let There Be Carnage will bring back Tom Hardy as Eddie Brock, Michelle Williams as Anne Weying, and Reid Scott as Dan Lewis. The sequel will also introduce Naomie Harris as Cletus' love interest Shriek. The film is scheduled for release on September 24, 2021.
