Over on Twitter, VALORANT lore enthusiast Cynprel shared a screengrab from ParmCheesy, which you can read below:

According to ParmCheesy, the Riot team is full of anime and Japanese media fans, so they were excited to create an agent reflecting these interests. The writer confirmed that Yoru is inspired by anime characters that fit the "cool lone rebel hero" archetype, such as Kazuma Kiryu from the Yakuza series, Jotaro Kujo from Jojo's Bizarre Adventure, Spike Spiegel from Cowboy Bebop, and Mondo from Killer is Dead.

Yoru's style is inspired by the Japanese rebel street fashion, and the combination of anime-style archetype with badass streetwear makes him one of the coolest agents in VALORANT. However, he is one of the least played agents in the game's competitive meta, but Riot reportedly has plans to give him significant updates in the upcoming patches, so players might get more incentive to select him in ranked matches.
