After going on a fairly long hiatus, Uzaki-chan Wants to Hang Out! is finally coming back next week with Chapter 94.

Back in January, fans of the series were left waiting for new content. After all, aside from the anime’s second season ending its run in late December, the Uzaki-chan manga also went on a hiatus later that month.

As with many manga titles that went on a hiatus, this one was due to the author’s health.

Uzaki-chan Wants to Hang Out! Anime and Manga

Uzaki-chan Wants to Hang Out! is an infamous anime series that got a lot of attention back when its first season was released in 2020.

Though this attention wasn’t exactly positive as the show was criticized for the character design of Hana Uzaki, with some expressing how uncomfortable they are with her petite, kid-like look.

Despite the controversy, the Uzaki-chan anime became a success, enough that a second season was greenlit and subsequently released in Fall 2022.

As the anime was renewed, the original manga continued its online serialization through the Dra Dra Sharp website.

Given that it’s not serialized in a physical magazine, the Uzaki-chan manga doesn’t have a set release schedule, though the author typically releases a chapter every two weeks.

But over the past years, the series has gone on some breaks, likely due to the health of the author, Take.

In late January of this year, the author announced another break due to more health complications.

Finally, Uzaki-chan will be back, with its latest chapter set to release on May 19, 2023. The manga’s return was confirmed by the author through his official Twitter account.

In the tweet, Take said that he would release the next chapter soon, though he remarked how he can’t draw at the same speed as before.

He also mentioned that he will try his best to work until he’s “about one step away from collapsing again.”

Previously, Take mentioned that he is suffering from various health issues, both mentally and physically.

While his condition seems to have improved, his latest tweet indicates he is still struggling health-wise.

Given how demanding manga writing and illustration are, it’s sadly quite common for manga artists to suffer from health issues.

For instance, My Hero Academia creator Kohei Horikoshi has also suffered health issues throughout the years.

Uzaki-chan Wants to Hang Out! will return with Chapter 94 on May 19 via Dra Dra Sharp.
