The Marvel Cinematic Universe may be dealing with a Kang problem but another threat is looming within the main Earth-616 continuity. The Skrulls, who first made their appearance in 2019's Captain Marvel are set to show off their true colors in Phase Five although the extent of their involvement amidst the Multiverse Saga remains unclear.

Now, a new report seems to cast doubt on the Skrulls' larger involvement in the billion-dollar franchise. Disney's first-quarter earnings report for 2023 (via The Direct) highlights some of the projects fans can expect from the House of Mouse this year, including stuff from Marvel, Star Wars, and 20th Century Studios. On the MCU side of things, three shows are officially set for release — Loki Season 2, X-Men '97, and Secret Invasion.

However, the status of the Samuel L. Jackson-led series seems to be shrouded in uncertainty as it appears that Secret Invasion doesn't have a "Season 1" denotation unlike X-Men '97. While nothing official has been set in stone, this could very well indicate that the Phase Five project will only have a limited run.

Of course, given how Marvel Studios plans to reduce its content following the fans' criticism over the franchise's recent decline in quality, it doesn't come as a surprise how some shows have only been ordered a limited run. And frankly, a project like Secret Invasion doesn't need a second season as its story could easily be expanded on the big screen.

Marvel Studios' Secret Invasion is currently slated for release in Spring 2023.
