Ubisoft Registers Trademark for Far Cry Comic Books

Ubisoft has made so many game franchises that it's no longer a big surprise when one of the company's many titles gets an adaptation. Currently, the company is doing well with comics based on Assassin's Creed and it looks like Far Cry is next, if the people in Ubisoft get their way.

According to Bleeding Cool, the company has registered the series for use in comic books so all that's left is an official announcement and a publisher that will release them. If the company's previous comics are anything to go by, there is a very good chance that the Far Cry comic will be made by Titan Comics.

The Far Cry games have had pretty wild settings, even though it has settled on an open-world gameplay style and a formula that almost-always involves a charismatic villain. It will be interesting to see just how the comic expands on the series' lore since it's not as easy to explore as say, Assassin's Creed or even Prince of Persia.

Far Cry 5, the most recent entry in this long-running franchise, ended up being one of the series' darkest entries but it does have some rather lighthearted DLC coming up. Players can also collect various comic books in the game, so these comics could be based on those, though that is just pure speculation.

No release date for the comic book has been revealed.
