In case you missed it, the wildly successful zombie film Train to Busan is getting a US remake. However, fans aren't exactly pleased with the idea of the Korean horror classic being remade for English-speaking audiences.
Deadline reports that Timo Tjahjanto is currently in talks to direct the Train to Busan remake for New Line Cinema. The project will be produced by James Wan, Michael Clear, Nicolas Atlan, Terry Kalagian, and Gary Dauberman, who will write the screenplay.
It looks like the remake has a stellar lineup of creative minds. However, fans weren't thrilled to know that Train to Busan will be remade and have shared their fury on Twitter. This led to the film's title trending again on the social media platform.
There are several reasons why people are unhappy about the Train to Busan remake. While some simply point out that the film's captivating storyline will not translate well in a Western setting, others believe that the movie is a masterpiece that doesn't need to be remade.
Train to Busan is a 2016 horror film directed by Sang Ho Yeon that followed a father (Gong Yoo) and his daughter (Kim Su An) as they board a train just as a zombie outbreak strikes. The movie's success has led to a sequel titled Peninsula.
Interestingly, Train to Busan is also the film that introduced international audiences to Ma Dong Seok, who is also known as Don Lee. Ma has since joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe and will play Gilgamesh in Eternals.
