Tom Hiddleston's Loki Series Could Confirm Trickster God Influenced Human History

The highly anticipated Loki series is definitely moving forward now that it has found a showrunner. Interestingly, the news also revealed some interesting new details about the Tom Hiddleston show.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Rick and Morty writer Michael Waldron has just been confirmed as the showrunner for the Disney+ series. In addition to being the show creator, Waldron will direct the pilot and serve as executive producer.

The report also confirms that Hiddleston will reprise his role as the God of Mischief. Interestingly, some new details about Loki's role in history have been revealed as well.

"Sources say the show will follow Loki as the trickster and shape-shifter pops up throughout human history as an unlikely influencer on historical events," it reads.

This is certainly a surprise for most people who believe that Loki spent all of his time on Asgard trying to please Odin and take the throne from fellow heir Thor. However, it also makes sense considering how easily the God of Mischief agreed to work with Thanos and the Chitauri in the first Avengers film.

There have been rumors that Hiddleston will only serve as the narrator of the series while Loki will be played by a younger actor. Not surprisingly, this bit of news was not accepted well by fans who are still expecting the Avengers: Infinity War star to portray the Trickster God. Hopefully, we'll see more of Hiddleston in the show.

The Loki series has not yet been given an official production date nor a premiere date just yet. Nevertheless, the show is expected to premiere on Disney+ before the end of 2019.
