Tom Hardy Says Venom 2 is a Love Story

It's no secret that Venom: Let There Be Carnage is going to be an action-packed comic book movie. However, there is so much more happening in the sequel than we might have expected. Tom Hardy has just confirmed that Venom 2 is a true love story and will explore the complicated relationships between the men and their symbiotes.

We all have certain expectations when it comes to the Venom sequel like an epic showdown between Eddie Brock and Cletus Kasady. There is even a chance that the characters will find romance since Anne Weying will be back and Shriek is being introduced in the second movie. However, that's not the love story we can expect in the film.

Hardy recently spoke to Screenrant about Let There Be Carnage, which he confirmed is something of a rom-com.

"It's a hundred percent a love story. I mean, it opens up with, 'This is a love story.' There's an absurd, surreal element to that. But it's not what you think, it's about a kind of dysfunctional love," Hardy said. He further explained that there are more elements in the sequel to look forward to.

"There's a buddy movie there. There's The Odd Couple, there's The Seven Year Itch. There's an element of Thelma and Louise, or Natural Born Killers, or True Romance with the other couple in that movie as well. And there's these two couples in there. Well, there's three because there's Dr. Dan and Anne as well," Hardy said.

It's clear that all the characters will be getting their spotlight in the film but Hardy also confirmed there's another important element to look forward to. At one point, he claimed that there's a bit of "a father-son movie in there."

This certainly sounds wild and now we have no idea what to expect in Venom 2. Stll, fans can be sure that Venom and Eddie will be getting into more trouble in Let There Be Carnage.

Venom: Let There Be Carnage is directed by Andy Serkis and also stars Michelle Williams, Naomie Harris, Reid Scott, Stephen Graham, and Woody Harrelson. The film is scheduled to premiere on October 1, 2021.
