Todd McFarlane Gives Script Update for His Spawn Movie

Spawn is one of the most anticipated comic book reboots coming out, provided that it does actually come out. Todd McFarlane announced that he would be directing this movie and even paying for it with his own money, hoping that the box office numbers will be enough to pay for his work. They also got big star Jamie Foxx to play as the titular character, though no one else has been cast at this point in time.

Well, when asked about the movie's progress by BeTerrific, McFarlane claimed that he is having another writer/director looking at the script and ironing out some rough spots. Once the script is deemed presentable, they will present it to people in Hollywood and see if it's ready to go. We hope that Todd gets what he wants so we can finally see some of this movie.

Here's what McFarlane said about the script:

"Right now it's being polished by another writer-director from the script that we handed him. He's supposed to be done with it here in a few weeks, and then once we sort of go back and forth and tighten it up a little bit, then we're going into Hollywood and we're gonna get a yes or no."

The waiting must be excruciating for McFarlane, who has wanted to make this Spawn movie for some time now. He's always had mixed thoughts about how some people handle his big Image Comics property so who better to make this new movie than himself? Just hoping that the film ends up being better than that poor adaptation we saw in the ‘90s, though it did have awesome makeup.

Spawn currently has no release date.
