Netflix Data Settles Debate on Most Popular Spider-Man

It goes without saying that Tobey Maguire, Andrew Garfield, and Tom Holland have defined the Spider-Man character over the last two decades. It's also undeniable that the three "Spider-Men" have their own sets of fans and for years, there's been debate as to which actor is the superior web-slinger.

While each of them brought something unique to their respective portrayals of the Marvel hero, fans just couldn't stop comparing the three, and the discourse was once again refueled when Spider-Man: No Way Home came out.

Now, new data reveals which Spidey actor is preferred by viewers and it may or may not come as a surprise.

According to the inaugural What We Watched: A Netflix Engagement Report, Tobey Maguire remains a favorite amongst Spidey diehards. Streaming data shows that all of his Spidey films, including the extended cut of Spider-Man: No Way Home were viewed for a combined 59,500,000 hours on the streaming platform.

Tom Holland comes in second garnerning 48,900,000 hours of viewing time while Andrew Garfield's films accumulated 36,200,000 hours. Shameik Moore, who voices Miles Morales in the Spider-Verse animated films is also part of the list with viewers watching Into the Spider-Verse for 12,500,000 hours.

Whether it's out of nostalgia alone or Maguire's portrayal being just that good, it can't be denied that the actor has cemented himself as a great live-action Spider-Man and his version of the character has stood the test of time.

Now, we don't know what the future holds for him but if the rumors are to be believed, he and Garfield could return to the MCU in Avengers: Secret Wars.

Sam Raimi's Spider-Man trilogy is available to stream on Netflix.
