Despite having “torture” in the title, 'Tis Time for "Torture," Princess is far from a dark and NSFW manga. Instead, this upcoming anime is based on the comedy manga that’s serialized in Shonen Jump+.

This series is being made by Pine Jam, the anime studio behind recent comfy slice-of-life shows like Do It Yourself!! and Kubo Won’t Let Me Be Invisible.

Instead of another chill slice-of-life series, this new anime from Pine Jam promises a lot of gags that are sure to make viewers laugh.

To give anime fans a better idea of what to expect, the series got a new trailer, which you can watch here:

This new trailer reveals the voice actor of Hell Lord, and it is none other than Tesshō Genda. He is a veteran VA who is best known for voicing Kurama in Naruto, and Younger Toguro in Yu Yu Hakusho.

The other VAs highlighted in the trailer include Haruka Shiraishi (Asirpa in Golden Kamuy) as Princess, Chikahiro Kobayashi (Legoshi in Beastars) as Excalibur, and Shizuka Ito (Akeno in High School DxD) as Torture Tortura.

As its title implies, this anime follows a Princess who has been captured by the Hellhorde and is subjected to “torture.”

In this world, actual torture is prohibited under a treaty, so the Hellhorde has to resort to different methods of torture to get information out of the princess.

These include tempting her with food and snacks which are usually quite effective against the princess.

Even though its initial premise may seem dark, the fact that the “torture” in this anime is comedic means it should be a must-see for fans who want some laughs.

‘Tis Time for “Torture,” Princess will be released in January 2024. Currently, there’s no word yet on which platform it will be streamed in outside of Japan.
