Thor: Love and Thunder: Who is Gorr the God Butcher?

Gorr the God Butcher finally comes out as the trailer of Thor: Love and Thunder reveals how sinister he looks like with his skin all white and those haunting eyes are enough to scare any god he would slay. While the fans have mixed emotions as to what he looks like, Christian Bale’s already looking like a force to be reckoned with.

In the comics, Gorr the God Butcher looks scary, too, so applause for Christian Bale for delivering the package! Coming from a planet without a name which is always on the brink of starvation, Gorr was told to trust that the gods will provide if one would pray for it. Gorr’s parents died at an early age so he had to live in such a cruel environment fending off all by himself.

Gorr remained faithful and married Agra who became pregnant, however, his wife and children did not survive a huge earthquake and only one son was left with him, Agar, who’s about to die from starvation as well. His son did not make it and stricken with all the grief from asking from the gods who never provided anything, Gorr declared that no gods should ever exist. Gorr traveled through a desert wanting to die when he saw gods battling, Knull, an elder god, and a god with powers from the Enigma Force.

The god Knull was fighting begged for Gorr’s help and since he was enraged with the death of his loved ones, Gorr picked up the All-Black Necrosword and killed the god. After that, he made a vow to kill all the gods in existence. He traveled the cosmos and ventured for thousands of years to make sure that no god will ever survive.

In the movie, it seems that Gorr’s dilemma is pretty much the same. In the trailer, Gorr declares that the gods only care about themselves, not others, and so he takes a vow to make sure that all gods will die.

Thor: Love and Thunder premieres in theaters on July 8, 2022.
