Thor: Love and Thunder remains one of the most divisive MCU films to date due to several elements that fans and critics have criticized whether it's the over-reliance on humor, story decisions, uneven visuals, or character moments that did not serve well.

One of the criticisms that the film has received is the limited screentime of Lady Sif, whose role was expected to be as substantial as the first two. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case as she only showed up for very few scenes.

Valkyrie's role in the story was also criticized as some fans felt that her presence wasn't enough considering her significant screen time in the third film and there were expectations that the character would be explored further.

As it turns out, the two aforementioned characters were supposed to have a major storyline together in the film that didn't end up happening in the final cut.

Here's What the Valkyrie and Sif's Love and Thunder Romance Would Have Looked Like

In the storyboard for Thor: Love and Thunder that artist William Groebe released on his website, it is revealed that one of the deleted scenes featured Valkyrie and Sif battling together during the Battle of New Asgard.

During that moment, Valkyrie was supposed to grab Sif out of the battle and take her to the infirmary.

Insider @MyTimeToShineH wrote on X that Sif was supposed to be Valkyrie's girlfriend in the film and would end up being her queen by the end of it.

It is unknown yet why the planned romance for the two characters was cut in the final version.

This is an interesting tidbit about the divisive film since it looks like they were really planning to make the two supporting characters not just a romantic couple, but have a bigger presence that they ended up being.

While they have established Valkyrie as queer, they haven't explored her romantic life yet in the present day of the MCU and the two characters have not shared a scene together on screen.

It is hard to tell whether future installments in another Thor film or other MCU project will revisit this idea at some point but there is certainly a possibility that they will finally make the two a couple if Marvel Studios feels ready to go in that direction which will be a milestone on their LGBTQ+ representation.

Thor: Love and Thunder is available to stream on Disney+.
