The production looks to be going pretty smoothly for Thor: Love and Thunder which will mark Chris Hemsworth's fourth Thor project and his ninth film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe overall. At this point, we still know very little about the upcoming sequel but several behind-the-scenes images have been circulating all over the internet with a lot of them containing potential major spoilers.
We reported a couple of weeks back that Hemsworth's look in the film could be taking huge inspiration from the Thunderstrike character and judging by the initial photos we've seen, it looks like we're gonna bid Fat Thor farewell.
Thor 4 will also mark the return of the wacky Asgardian stage play we all saw in Thor: Ragnarok. We reported that acclaimed actress Melissa McCarthy has been cast in the film to play "Hela" in the said skit. The play will apparently be a depiction of the fall of Asgard at the hands of Surtur.
Obviously, this would also mean that "actor" Thor and "actor" Loki will mark their respective returns to deliver a few laughs in Asgard. Rumors circulated last month that Luke Hemsworth and Matt Damon are set to reprise their cameo roles in the Thorquel and now, we can officially confirm that the actors will once again be making an appearance in the film as "Thor" and "Loki". Love and Thunder are already shaping up to be another wacky yet thrilling offering from Taika Waititi and to the director's credit, the bold change of pace he made in Thor: Ragnarok ended up being beneficial to the franchise and even reinvigorated the God of Thunder who always felt like a "side character" in the Avengers films.
Thor: Love and Thunder will hit cinemas in 2022.
