Is The World's Finest Assassin Manga Complete, Finished or Ongoing? Here is the Current Status of the Series

The World's Finest Assassin isn't the most revolutionary isekai out there, but that's the worst you can say about it. Fans seem to enjoy the show about the Assassin who gets reincarnated in another world as a noble and think the anime is particularly good at what it does. The isekai tropes are still there, but, for some, they aren't entirely negative. So, for those craving more Assassin content, is there a manga or light novel, and what's its status?

Is The World's Finest Assassin Based On a Manga or Light Novel?

Unsurprisingly for an isekai, The World's Finest Assassin is based on a light novel, written by Rui Tsukiyo and published by Shosetsuka ni Naro in Japan. Kadokawa Shoten later acquired the novel series and published it with illustrations by Reia. The series is currently available in English through Yen Press.
Once again unsurprisingly, a manga, written by Rui Tsukiyo and illustrated by Hamao Sumeragi, was then released in 2019, before we finally reached the current anime adaptation.

Is The World's Finest Assassin Manga Complete or Ongoing?

The light novel, which first came out in 2018, counts 6 volumes, and we still haven't seen the last of it. As for the manga, there are only 3 tankobon volumes at the time of writing, meaning it's also ongoing.

At this point, we don't yet know if Lugh will manage to defeat the powerful, dangerous hero. This can be a bit annoying for those who just want to binge the series. However, it's also quite exciting, as we're all on the same page, and there's still something nice to look forward to.

The World's Finest Assassin Manga: What Is It About?

The World's Finest Assassin follows an elderly assassin who did some damage in his time. However, his superiors decide that he's outlived his usefulness, sabotaging him and killing him.

The assassin is then reborn with the help of a goddess, who gives him two options. The main character might get reincarnated without any memories, or retain his memories in true isekai fashion. Opting for the latter, he starts his new life as a noble who retains the skills from his previous life. In doing so, he gets implicated in the goddess' plan to kill a very powerful hero, who is going to destroy the world.
