The Witcher Showrunner Shares Season 3 Plot Details

If you've finished watching The Witcher Season 2, there's a good chance you're already excited about things to come. But what can we look forward to in The Witcher Season 3? Showrunner Lauren Hissrich has shared some interesting plot details confirming that the next season will adapt at least two important books!

It's no secret that most of the second season is based on Andrzej Sapkowski's Blood of Elves. However, the first episode was an adaptation of A Grain of Truth, a short story from The Last Wish. So can we expect The Witcher Season 3 to adapt another book? Hissrich revealed that the show isn't quite done with Blood of Elves just yet.

"We approximately do a book a season, but we also make sure that the stories from that book are best in that season of our television show. So sometimes we move those chess pieces around a little bit," Hissrich explained to Collider. She then teased that a storyline from Blood of Elves will be featured in the third season.

"There's a big story from Blood of Elves that we're gonna do in Season 3 for instance," Hissrich said. "Or there was a short story that we couldn't fit in Season 1, so we put it in Season 2. We try to be pretty flexible with that."

We're not surprised that the show isn't done with Blood of Elves but the second season also hinted at another book being the main focus. Hissrich confirmed this while admitting that Season 3 is already in the works.

"We're almost done with the scripting phase, and it's amazing," she said, "I'm really thrilled with how the season is shaping up because it's based on my favorite book in the saga, which is The Time of Contempt."

It's an exciting update and we can't wait to see more of the series in the future. In the meantime, The Witcher Season 2 is streaming on Netflix.
