It has been a few months since Daniel Craig officially stepped down as James Bond in No Time to Die and that means the search is now on for the next 007. So who are the possible candidates to take over the coveted role? It looks like a long-time favorite might finally get his chance to play the famous spy. The Suicide Squad star Idris Elba is reportedly being considered by the James Bond producers!
It's no secret that Idris Elba is one of the fan favorites to be the next James Bond. Several fans began campaigning for the Luther star to be Daniel Craig's replacement in the next 007 films.
But how real is the possibility that Elba will be the next James Bond? It could be happening right now. Longtime 007 producer Barbara Broccoli was recently asked whether Elba would take over the role and she admitted that it has already been discussed.
"Well, we know Idris, we're friends with him, and he's a magnificent actor," Broccoli told Deadline. "And, you know, it's been part of the conversation, but it's always difficult to have the conversation when you have someone in the seat."
It's an interesting response that confirms Idris Elba is in the running to be the next James Bond. However, it is important to remember that Broccoli isn't the only one making decisions about the future of 007. Nevertheless, we're happy to know that we might be able to see Elba as the new James Bond soon. Stay tuned for more updates on this story.
For now, it is still unclear if Elba will be announced as the next 007. However, that doesn't mean he isn't busy with new projects. He is currently working on the Luther movie and will play Knuckles in Sonic the Hedgehog 2, which is scheduled for release on April 8, 2022.
