The Sopranos' Edie Falco Joins Cast of the Avatar Sequels

The Avatar franchise is not short of badass women like Sigourney Weaver and Zoe Saldana, and the sequels are looking to add someone new to that roster. Just in, it's been announced that Edie Falco (The Sopranos) has joined the cast for the Avatar sequels.

Here's the official announcement:

Director James Cameron also had this to say about Falco's involvement: Edie Falco is one of the greats – I can't wait to watch her kick some ass on the big screen.

There are currently multiple sequels in development, and it's been reported that a few productions have already wrapped. So with this announcement of Falco joining the cast, I have a feeling she's going to be appearing in the latter movies rather than the latest one coming out. Then again, this is just speculation on my part. With the first sequel set for a release in 2020, there's a lot of time for Falco to be added into the film.

Falco joins a cast that includes new faces like Kate Winslet, David Thewlis, and Oona Chaplin. Returning cast members include Sigourney Weaver, Zoe Saldana, Sam Worthington, Stephen Lang, and Joel David Moore.

We don't have an official synopsis on the story yet, but it's said that the story will focus on the children if Jake and Neytiri; and this time around, we're going to go to Pandora's underwater world rather than the skies.

The first Avatar sequel is set to come out Dec. 18, 2020.
