There's no denying that the team of Kevin Feige, Joe, and Anthony Russo has been a recipe for success in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Collaborating on some of the biggest blockbuster films of all time, their partnership ended in 2019 after the release of Avengers: Endgame.

While the Russo Brothers are still open to the idea of returning to the MCU, they've previously expressed their desire to take a break from the superhero genre to focus on their other endeavors as directors.

However, it turns out that we nearly got a reunion between the Russos and Feige that would have taken place in a galaxy far, far away. The Extraction producers are now revealing that they were tapped to potentially direct the Star Wars film the Marvel Studios boss was reportedly attached to producing.

During an interview on the Smartless podcast, Joe shared that there were "early conversations" with Feige about collaborating on his Star Wars project. He said: "We love ‘Star Wars. There were early conversations, there were some early conversations with us. Kevin Feige is a huge Star Wars fan, and there were some early conversations about maybe teaming up with Kevin to do ‘Star Wars.'"

Kevin's supposed Star Wars film has long been reported to be in development but intriguingly, Lucasfilm boss Kathleen Kennedy shut down the prospect, saying the project produced by the MCU patriarch was never in the works.

As it stands, we still don't know key details surrounding Feige's rumored project and why it was ultimately put in the bin but given his impressive MCU track record, he could've easily been a valuable asset for the Star Wars franchise.

Speaking of Star Wars, Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy's movie centered on Rey Skywalker's New Jedi Order is expected to hit cinemas sometime in 2025.
