James Gunn recently released the official lineup for The Suicide Squad on his Instagram account. This brings light to previous rumors being true since Gunn already confirmed this along with the movie's logo.
The film will be bringing back actors Margot Robbie, Viola Davis, Joel Kinnaman, and Jai Courtney. Idris Elba, David Dastmalchian, and Daniela Melchior were previously confirmed to be joining as well. Along with the cast are Michael Rooker, John Cena, Nathan Fillion, Steve Agee, Pete Davidson, Taika Waititi, Flula Borg, Mayling Ng, Sean Gunn, Juan Diego Botto, Storm Reid, Alice Braga, Tinashe Kajese, Peter Capaldi, Julio Ruiz, Jennifer Holland, and Joaquin Cosio.
The announced cast isn't quite complete, though. At least, that's what The Room actor and creator Tommy Wiseau may think. As he's been campaigning on playing a Joker role in a DC movie for quite some time now.
His hopes of becoming DC's Joker isn't surprising since he went as far as to making a Joker audition tape back in March of 2018 and even posting a Photoshopped poster on his Twitter and Instagram account. See photo below:
The photo shows Tommy Wiseau's name included in the cast list that Gunn has previously posted. Replacing Jai Courtney's (to play as Joker) name across the lineup placing his beside Cena's. As the rest of the names in the list remains.
This isn't surprising for the fans who have been following Wiseau for a long time. He even vyed for a cameo in WWE as well as wanting to play Shadow the Hedgehog in the video game adaptation.
It looks like the Joker won't play a big role in The Suicide Squad though. He serves a big part of Harley Quinn's past but was never made as the focal point of the said movie. And if this would be true, Wiseau's wish on playing the part of Joker still remains, considering Gunn's history as a "microbudget filmmaker" and Wiseau's past movies.
The Suicide Squad is scheduled for release on August 6, 2021.
