San Diego Comic-Con was truly a momentous event for Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson who excitingly headlined DC's panel presentation. However, all the enthusiasm and positive energy fans threw at the Black Adam actor were immediately turned into deafening boos when Johnson revealed that he himself isn't sure which actor will be playing Superman moving forward.

You see, The Rock gave the DC Extended Universe fandom a renewed sense of hope when he took to social media and seemingly guaranteed fans that Black Adam will go head-to-head with none other than Cavill's beloved version of the Man of Steel.

However, the British star no-showed the event and as it stands, there have been conflicting reports about his SDCC absence. Following his panel appearance, Johnson spoke with ComicBook.com to talk about the potential big-screen clash between him and Cavill, despite his apparent uncertainty.

According to Dwayne, not only does he consider Cavill a good friend, but he also acknowledges him as a "phenomenal" Superman. He said: "I will say this. I will say that Henry is a buddy and he is a phenomenal Superman. He is a phenomenal Superman and Henry Cavill is the Superman of our generation with respect to the other Supermans of the past."

The latest reports on Cavill's Comic-Con no-show claim that the actor was in fact set for a major appearance during the panel. However, the actor reportedly tested positive for COVID-19 while filming the third season of The Witcher. As it stands, Cavill has yet to release an official statement but if that's the actual case, then there's still hope for his DCEU future.

DC's Black Adam is set for theatrical release on October 21, 2022.
