The Raid Director Shares Pitch for 'Shakespearean' Deathstroke Standalone Film

At this point, we're still not sure if we'll get to see more of Deathstroke although the character was already introduced in the post-credits scene for Justice League. However, it looks like Gareth Evans had an interesting for the DC comic book antihero. The director of The Raid revealed his cool pitch for the abandoned Slade Wilson standalone film.

Evans recently spoke to Yahoo! where he admitted that he already had an idea for a Deathstroke movie after reading about the comic book character.

"When I read up on it, there were about three different versions of how his character originated. And so I thought we could do something quite Shakespearean, in terms of how he loses his eye, and how he gets created as the character that he is," he said.

Of course, this will be more than just an origin story. Evans intends to incorporate his trademark action sequences into a truly flamboyant comic book film.

"We had ideas of the kind of style that we would have gone for with that, which would have married some of the more grounded style that I have, but then because of the world of it, it would allow me to be a bit more flamboyant and a bit more stylised. We could have taken it in some really interesting areas…We had some pretty bold ideas there that could have been really visceral and really fun," he said.

Although this sounds exciting, it is important to point out that the project may have been discarded by Warner Bros. Nevertheless, Evans isn't giving up hope on the Deathstroke movie just yet.

"I don't know. Who knows? They might come back again in five or ten years time, you never know," he said.

We're really hoping that the studio will once again consider pursuing the Deathstroke standalone film. In the meantime, we're keeping our fingers crossed.
