Most fans of the series already know which girl wins in the end, but that hasn’t stopped The Quintessential Quintuplets from getting a new anime. To further hype up this new anime, the creditless OP for The Quintessential Quintuplets side story film was shared online.

This creditless video is a must-watch for fans of the series. Not only does it feature a song that’s performed by the main cast, but it also gives fans a look at the unique animation used for the anime special.

The Quintessential Quintuplets manga ended in February 2020, and while not every part of the manga’s story has been adapted into the anime, the series’ ending was covered in the 2022 movie.

Despite the movie revealing which Nakano sibling married Fuutarou in the end, that hasn’t stopped the anime from getting yet another installment in the form of a side story special.

Titled The Quintessential Quintuplets∽, this side story adapts some of the stories in the manga that weren’t covered before.

Though the special hasn’t been released on streaming platforms yet, it is currently screening in Japanese cinemas.

It’s not exactly clear if this can be classified as a movie or an OVA. What we can say for certain is that it features a different art style and animation from the previous seasons as it is animated by a different studio.

Instead of Bibury Animation Studios (the studio behind Season 2 and the movie), this side story is made by Shaft, the well-known studio behind titles like the Monogatari series and Fate/Extra Last Encore.

After the anime special’s theatrical run ends, it is confirmed to get a TV release in Japan sometime this season.

But before that happens, the creditless opening theme was shared online, giving fans outside of Japan a taste of what to expect.

Aside from a look at the unique art and animation style, the opening also previews the lovely original song Gotoubun no Mirai that’s performed by the VAs of the Nakano siblings. You can check it out here:

In a way, this opening is a celebration of both the series and the five siblings.

While only one of them wins in the end, this opening shines the spotlight on the quintuplets equally.

Right now, there’s no word yet on when The Quintessential Quintuplets side story special will be released on streaming services outside of Japan.
