The Penguin Reportedly Confirmed As Major Villain In The Batman

We finally have a bit of good news about Matt Reeves' The Batman. It looks like the Dark Knight will once again be facing the Penguin really soon.

There have been speculations that Oswald Cobblepott will be returning to the silver screen in 2020. But could it be more than just mere rumors? According to We Got This Covered, several sources have confirmed that the Penguin will be one of the major villains in The Batman although the character has not yet been cast.

The Penguin certainly is one of the most interesting Batman characters out there. Oswald was famously played by Danny Devito in Tim Burton's Batman Returns. The version of the villain that appears in Gotham is portrayed by Robin Lord Taylor and continues to be a terrifying figure in the series. But who will play Oswald in The Batman?

Josh Gad has been campaigning to play Penguin for some time now although some fans believe that Jonah Hill would be a perfect fit for the character. Either way, we're just happy to know that Oswald will be back really soon.

The Penguin was originally supposed to be a part of the Birds of Prey movie starring Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn. However, the character has been written out of the script and is reportedly being saved for another DC Extended Universe flick. Needless to say, this is a great move for DCEU.

The Batman has not yet been given an official release date and it is still unclear if Ben Affleck will return as Bruce Wayne. Nevertheless, the movie is expected to hit theaters in 2020.
