What Is The Other Zoey About?
The Other Zoey is a romantic comedy film that follows Zoey Miller (played by Josephine Langford), a smart computer major who’s uninterested in romance.
Things change when Zach MacLaren (played by Drew Starkey), a popular college soccer player, gets temporary amnesia and mistakes her for his girlfriend, who’s also named Zoey.
Because the doctor said that Zach had a concussion and couldn’t handle stress, Zoey decided to pretend to be Zoey Wallace.
When she finds out that Miles (played by Archie Renaux), a guy she’s interested in, is Zach’s cousin, she decides not to tell the truth just yet so that she can get closer to Miles.
However, things get complicated when Zach starts remembering things, and Zoey starts falling for him.

Is The Other Zoey Based on a Book?
No, The Other Zoey is not based on a book. Matthew Tabak wrote the screenplay, while Sara Zandieh (A Simple Wedding) directed the film.
Talking about how the film came to be, director Zandieh said:
“I really liked the script. It was really amusing and quirky and heartwarming. It was also nostalgic and reminded me of rom-coms and coming-of-age movies from the ’80s and ‘90s, which was my favorite decade of comedies.
I loved all the Molly Ringwald movies — “Pretty in Pink” and “Sixteen Candles” — and “Weird Science,” “Breakfast Club,” “Ferris Bueller,” and all of the John Hughes stuff. But I also loved rom-coms from the ’90s, like “Clueless” and, “Sleepless in Seattle,” “The Birdcage,” “Say Anything.”
So I was interested in the script and when I met the producers, I told my vision for it [that] I would like it to kind of look and feel like those movies. It was also a bit more heightened than a rom-com that’s totally rooted in reality – it had a ski sequence and a concussion and memory loss, so that spin on it was really interesting to me."
So, unlike most romance films, The Other Zoey is not an adaptation of a book.

The Other Zoey was released in US theaters on October 20, 2023, and will be available to stream on Amazon Prime Video on November 10, 2023. In Canada, Australia, and the UK, The Other Zoey is already available to stream on Amazon Prime Video.
