The premiere date for The Offer has been set. The drama series, which is based on what transpired behind the scenes during the production of The Godfather feature film, will be available on the Paramount+ streaming service in April.

The Godfather, released in 1972, is a mafia film based on author Mario Puzo's novel about the Corleones, a powerful mob family locked in a power struggle in mid-'40s New York. Marlon Brando, Al Pacino, James Caan, Diane Keaton, and Robert Duvall starred in the picture, which won three Oscars, including Best Picture and Best Actor for Brando.

The Offer Details

The Offer, a miniseries on the film's producer, Albert S. Ruddy, and his "extraordinary, never-before-seen experiences" in bringing The Godfather to life, was greenlit by Paramount+ last year.

Ruddy is played by Miles Teller, who replaced Armie Hammer. In addition to Teller, the cast includes Matthew Goode as Robert Evans, Juno Temple as Bettye McCartt, Giovanni Ribisi as Joe Colombo, Dan Fogler as Coppola, Burn Gorman as Charles Bluhdorn, Colin Hanks as Barry Lapidus, and Patrick Gallo as Puzo.

The Offer is created and written by Oscar and Emmy nominee Michael Tolkin (Escape at Dannemora, The Player), and written and executive produced by Nikki Toscano, who also serves as showrunner. Teller and Ruddy are both executive producers of the show as well, along with Leslie Greif (Hatfields & McCoys). The first block will be directed and executive produced by Dexter Fletcher (Rocketman).

Paramount TV Studios is in charge of the production of The Offer.

When to Watch The Offer on Paramount+

The Offer will premiere on Apr. 28 exclusively on the streaming service, according to a release date published by Paramount+. It was also revealed that the first three episodes of the 10 series will premiere at that time. Following the premiere, the following seven episodes will be available to watch on Thursdays for the next seven weeks.

Because The Godfather is frequently hailed as one of the best films ever made, there's a natural desire to see a documentary about its creation. Ruddy is a seasoned Hollywood producer who likely has more incredible stories than could possibly be squeezed into a single series, thus recounting the tale of The Godfather in a series like The Offer could certainly make for interesting television.
