The Next Dragon Ball Super Story Arc Will Probably Be Developed By This Person

Dragon Ball Super: Broly is promising to be a game-changing chapter in the Dragon Ball franchise, so fans have been wondering what stories will follow after the release of the upcoming film. After all, the Dragon Ball Super manga is almost done with its Tournament of Power arc, which would bring the manga to the point when the anime series ended. At this point, we still don't know if series creator Akira Toriyama will continue to write stories for his franchise but it looks like fans have an idea who could take over the series.

Redditor Toffeeclipsa101 brought up a fan theory that Toriyama is grooming Dragon Ball Super manga illustrator Toyotaro to become the Dragon Ball creator's successor, and that means he might be the one to launch his own story arc in the manga, following the end of Tournament of Power and the events of Dragon Ball Super: Broly.

As you can see above, the theory is taken from interviews with Toyotaro, in which he made statements like this:

"...for a fan like me, it feels great to have Toriyama's approvation on more traditional drawings, some of my greatest satisfactions stem from seeing him approve my original ideas: new moves, new expressions. And something else, in the future."

Some fans believe that "something else, in the future" may be referring to an original storyline for the manga and anime. It would be understandable if Toriyama is actually planning to pass the torch to Toyotaro but we'll have to wait and see.

Dragon Ball Super is available for streaming on Crunchyroll Saturdays at 7:15 p.m. CST. Toonami still airs the English dub of Dragon Ball Super on Adult Swim Saturdays at 9:30 p.m. It's also available to stream on FunimationNOW and Amazon. The upcoming Dragon Ball Super film will be released in Japan on December 14 and it's expected to be released in US sometime in January 2019.
