The New Mutants Director Still Hopes To Complete His Mutant Trilogy

The New Mutants may have had some trouble finding its way to release, but director Josh Boone is still hoping that he'll be able to complete his mutant trilogy.

Speaking in an interview with SFX Magazine, Boone talks about The New Mutants and how he hopes Marvel will allow him to complete his trilogy despite the delays to the film.

"Ultimately, after all this time, I was able to make MY New Mutants film, and I'm am proud of it," Boone told the entertainment news outlet, "What I'm hoping for now is that it will be successful enough so the studio will allow me to complete a trilogy. I've got all planned out."

After the success of The Fault in Our Stars, Boone was a sought-after director who had landed himself another movie gig – this time 20th Century Fox's comic book movie, The New Mutants.

A genre-bending superhero movie mixing horror elements into Fox's X-Men film franchise, The New Mutants seemed like a great fit for Boone. Everything was going well until major hurdles came in the way of the film's release – not only was Fox's X-Men movies failing, but the sale to Disney caused major delays.

Luckily, despite all the rescheduled release dates, The New Mutants is finally out to release, this time under the Disney banner. There's a lot of hype over the film too. Fans are eager to see just how well the horror movie genre might mix with the X-Men film franchise. Based on the trailer, we say it's pretty good.

The New Mutants is set to premiere on August 28.
