The upcoming MCU film The Marvels will see Kamala Khan finally meet and team up with her idol and favorite superhero Carol Danvers. It is definitely one of the reasons why a lot of fans have been looking forward to seeing the highly-anticipated movie.
Since the beginning of Phase Four, we have noticed that a couple of MCU films and TV shows have explored the mentor-protege relationship between an older and younger hero that could lead to the passing of the baton in the future.
We can pretty much assume at this point that The Marvels are going to explore it as well with Kamala and Carol. Their adventure in the movie will definitely shape their relationship and their individual journeys in the MCU moving forward.
The Marvels and Hawkeye Will Have "A Bit" of Connection
In an interview with Total Film magazine (via The Direct), The Marvels producer Mary Livanos discussed Kamala and Carol's relationship in the film where she confirmed that it is "a bit" connected with Hawkeye since they both explore the theme of hero worship.
"We all are prone to fall into similar trappings when it comes to hero worship. You think that heroes can fix any problem," she said.
"But in this movie, we actually examine how sometimes decisions you make in an attempt to make things better can sometimes make things worse, and have a cascading effect that spirals out of your control.
Livanos added, "So, while we're seeing Carol Danvers grapple with what has become of her actions, we see that also processed through the eyes of Ms. Marvel. We actually experience forgiveness through the eyes of another person. That can be freeing for the person who might not be able to forgive themselves."
Now that the MCU has expanded even further and introduced a couple of young heroes since Phase Four began, the idea of "hero worship" is an interesting theme to explore, especially with someone like Kamala who looks up to Carol for her new venture as a superhero.
In the case of Hawkeye, Clint Barton became the reason why Kate Bishop decided to learn archery and it gave her skills that would lead her to become a hero herself within the MCU.

It is curious to see what Carol and Kamala's dynamic will look like and how the former will mentor the latter when they finally meet up and are forced to go on a mission together alongside Monica Rambeau.
The Marvels is set to arrive in theaters this November 10.
