It was initially reported that Season 4 would begin production this year which took a lot of fans by surprise. However, according to a new update, it may have been pushed back. The latest issue of Production Weekly (via Bespin Bulletin) claims that The Mandalorian's fourth season will start its production during the first quarter of 2023 at the earliest.

While no specific production date has been disclosed, it would be safe to assume that cameras could begin rolling in January, at least a month before the premiere of Season 3. It's still unclear if Season 4 will mark the end of the beloved Star Wars spinoff series but previous reports claim that Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni are already plotting the show's finale.

This is a massive improvement from the near-three-year gap between Seasons 2 and 3. The real question is, why is Lucasfilm fast-tracking production all of a sudden?

The Mandalorian Season 3 will reportedly hit Disney+ on February 22, 2023.
