It goes without saying that Grogu has become the poster child (no pun intended) for the MandoVerse. But despite being a treasured mainstay in the Star Wars franchise for nearly four years now, there are a lot of things we still don't know about the Force-wielding creature. One of them is the character's origin and where he truly came from.

In Season 2, we finally learned through Ahsoka Tano what his true name is after being referred to as "The Child" (aka "Baby Yoda" to the Star Wars fandom) since The Mandalorian's inception, but that's about it.

Well, it looks like The Mandalorian Season 3 will finally give Star Wars fans some much-needed clarity after all these years. The official trailer for the hit Disney+ show's forthcoming season finally dropped and it once again sets up Baby Yoda's connection to the prequel trilogy.

One sequence from the visually pleasing and action-packed teaser features what looks to be a flashback scene from Order 66, where a group of Jedis is seen preparing for an attack, presumably from Anakin Skywalker.

It has long been speculated by fans that Grogu was among the survivors of the Jedi purge orchestrated by Emperor Sheev Palpatine and MandoVerse spinoff The Book of Boba Fett pretty much confirmed that the child was indeed present during the execution of Order 66. However, it remains a mystery how he was able to make it out alive following the Sith onslaught led by the future Darth Vader.

Of course, there's a good chance that his actual backstory will finally be explored but given how Season 3 is centered on Din Djarin and Bo-Katan's duel for the Mandalore throne, it's still a little too early to get excited.

The third season of The Mandalorian is hitting Disney+ on March 1, 2023.
