The Mandalorian Season 2 Trailer Drop Allegedly Connected to NBA Playoffs

With no Star Wars film set to come out soon, fans are looking to TV, and everyone can't wait to get their first look at the second season of The Mandalorian. We know that the show comes back in October, but we could have news on when it comes out this month.

According to LRM Online, the trailer for the second season of The Mandalorian is said to debut alongside the first round of the NBA playoffs; either on Aug. 21 or Aug. 22. Coincidentally, these dates are also next to the same weekend when Star Wars Celebration was supposed to take place before it was cancelled due to the global pandemic.

Then again, it's still possible that Disney would likely release it earlier on the 21st, seeing that DC FanDome takes place on the 22nd. Though it would be weird to try and steal DC's thunder that day, it's likely Disney will want to keep that spirit of competition alive (probably because their winning).

While there is still room for doubt on this leaked release date, it does seem very likely we'll get the trailer soon. With a premiere set for October, you would even say that Disney is already waiting too long to reveal something that has been highly anticipated since last year. Hopefully the sources were right.

For now, we wait on The Mandalorian Season 2. While the first season as very sparing with its fanservice, the second season is looking to bring in more familiar faces, from Boba Fett to Ahsoka Tano (if rumors are to be believed). Let's just hope they don't try to bank in on nostalgia too much.

The Mandalorian returns to Disney+ this October.
